Canada's failure to protect those in long-term care (LTC) during the pandemic has been a stark exposé of what's wrong with eldercare. We have learned these lessons many times before but there has historically been little progress or a firm commitment to solutions. LTC has long been resigned to the fringes of the health system, often with dire consequences.
