This webinar will focus on a project initiated by the Women’s College Research Institute, Women’s College Hospital, to improve support services to transgender (trans) survivors of sexual assault. It will begin with a discussion about the problem of violence against trans persons and detail the importance of a coordinated effort of multiple sectors in providing trans-affirming post sexual assault care. The discussion will then shift to the development of a province-wide intersectoral network which brought together health leaders from hospital-based environments and community leaders from local trans-positive organizations. Seven regional knowledge mobilization and community engagement meetings were held across Ontario. Key insights that arose from these meetings on how to better address sexual assault against trans persons will be shared and the potential impact of the network and future steps will be outlined.
