A speaker event with Angie Grewal who is nominated for the Huner Prize of Public Policy in trying to address physician shortage, access to care and cost efficiency as a wicked problem by expanding the role of Nurse Practitioners.

Aninder (Angie) Grewal, Research Coordinator, RN Critical Care.

Aninder (Angie) Grewal is a seasoned ICU nurse with a mission to elevate healthcare. With over a decade of experience, she currently serves as an ICU nurse at Misericordia and extends her expertise to nursing roles in the ED and Post-Anaesthesia Recovery Room.

Beyond her clinical duties, Angie is deeply engaged in shaping the future of nursing through research and leadership. As the Co-Lead of the Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses (CACCN), she plays a pivotal role in advancing critical care practices and fostering professional growth within the nursing community.

In addition to her leadership role, Angie serves as a Research Coordinator at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Nursing and as a Research Assistant at the University of Lethbridge. Currently pursuing her Masters in Nursing, she is dedicated to exploring key areas such as burnout in ICU nurses, the evolving role of advanced nursing in ED and critical care, and the impact of Post Intensive Care Unit Syndrome-Family.

With a passion for making a tangible difference in healthcare, Angie is committed to bridging the gap between research and practice, ultimately improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of care.


Kate Bykowski, NP PhD (C)

Kate Bykowski is an actively practicing nurse practitioner committed to patient-centered care and improving the overall health of her patients. Balancing her clinical duties with PhD research studies, she is devoted to improving the integration of nurse practitioners within rural communities across Canada. With a firm belief in evidence-based practice, Kate actively advocates for healthcare reform grounded in combining research findings with pragmatic solutions. Her dedication to bridging the gap between academia and practical healthcare delivery reflects her passion for enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services for all Canadians.
